Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease that can be spread through contact with the vagina, penis, mouth, or anus. It can also be spread from mother to baby during a vaginal delivery. Gonorrhea infections that are left untreated can develop into serious complications, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (in women) and epididymitis (in men). Symptoms of the infection may include burning sensations when urinating, swollen testicles, and bloody vaginal discharge. Treatment usually involves antibiotics.
